Living in Rutland makes you happy: it’s official

It’s official, Rutland is the happiest place to live in England, according to the Office for National Statistics.

And as a middle aged woman, in employment, owning my own house AND living in Rutland, I am statistically speaking happier than other people, wherever they live.  (Apparently the only thing that could make me happier is being married, but that’s debatable!)

And the BBC is reporting it, so it must be right.  I expect a boom in house prices instantly.  Estate agents in Rutland must be rubbing their hands with glee.

The only place in the whole of the UK happier than Rutland (and only by a smidgin of 0.08) is Orkney and Shetland , and in fairness, that’s a long way to go to be happy.

So visit Rutland: it’s easy to reach, and it’s very happy indeed.

  1. We live in Vermont close to a town called Rutland. Happy that it came up in suggested blog posts because it gave me an opportunity to find your blog.
